Philadelphia, PA — July 31, 2024 — Brian Clapp, President of CCI Consulting and Kidney Donor Athletes Treasurer, is gearing up for a remarkable challenge this summer. Brian, along with his son Noah, will participate in a 200-mile relay race across Colorado from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs to raise awareness for the National Kidney Registry. This race is not just a testament to Brian’s dedication to fitness, but also a powerful statement on the importance of living kidney donation and a great opportunity to create awareness that you can do difficult things post-donation both for the recipient and the donor.
Brian’s journey as a kidney donor began on September 21, 2021, when he donated his left kidney to his son after a genetic condition destroyed Noah’s kidneys. This profound act of selflessness has fueled his passionate advocacy for living donation. Reflecting on the experience, Brian shares, “The skill and care of the medical team was amazing, and the outpouring of support for my son was awesome. It was a life-affirming and life-changing experience for both of us.”
An avid runner with over 25 marathons and more than 100 races to his name, Brian’s commitment to fitness and outdoor activities has been a significant part of his life even at the age of 60. Despite the challenges of kidney donation, he was back on the running track just six weeks later and completed the Boston Marathon at the six-month mark. “The body’s ability to recover is amazing!” he notes.
Brian’s participation in the relay race highlights his enduring commitment to health and philanthropy. As President of CCI Consulting, a leading human resource consulting firm, Brian continues to inspire those around him both professionally and personally. He resides in the suburbs of Philadelphia with his wife, who occasionally joins him on his runs, and their three grown children. The Clapp family cherishes their time traveling and exploring new adventures together.
